One Night At the Height of COVID19
The hotel took the following measures: registration sheet for all visitors, literature on sanitation standards, room service discount to encourage eating in. However, some observed oversights. Two entrances exist, and the more prestigious namesake entrance on King is kept open to the public. These doors are "pull" only and there is no self-opening mechanism. Patrons are forced to touch three doors to enter. There is a preferable revolving door entrance on Wellington. Patrons should have been directed to use this alternative. The hotel has access to a parking area and charges $50 for valet service. The problem is not the cost. Considering these times, cheap on-site self-parking is a obvious measure to protect public health. I opted to park my vehicle myself a block away and happily paid more. I can not imagine anyone using valet service. Note than while there is dinner service, no other meals are available. Guests are left to find food themselves until the kitchen opens at 5pm. I mentioned this to the hotel management and suggested at least a single breakfast option be made available. I’m sure most people in these circumstances would not balk at eggs and bacon or something similarly easy to manage. Finally, the room I was assigned will only be blocked for two days following my departure, which is a period too brief to provide good odds of decontamination. Overall, the stay was fine but some simple tweaks could created a far better impression.

Exceptional 10.0
Stayed for 3 days while I waited for a flight home. The wait wasn’t fun - because of the coronavirus, everything was closed and the area around the hotel what’s deserted. So the hotel staff had their hands full because we were all supposed to stay in our rooms but we didn’t want to! One thing that made the seclusion more bearable was the room – huge TV, great kitchen, comfy bed, nice bathroom

The staff was really friendly and helpful, staying there during the covid19 pandemic limited access to their facilities but staff made up for it and made sure my stay was comfortable.

odd experience
well to start. The check in process was brutal. The front counter employees looked at my husband and I like we were sick with Covid-19 because we were taking precaution and wore masks. The fire alarm goes on and the instructions from hotel employees was hard to comprehend and left us along with our neighbouring suites confused on what to do. We left through the stairs to avoid getting stuck in elevators and returned with no explanation from guests services. It was just overall odd.

Service is horrible
We stayed there last weekend. We had paid for our entire stay on a site that explained that there would be a $250 deposit however didn't state that we needed to put this on a credit card. We arrived from out of town, took the train there and were told that we needed a credit card in order to complete our stay. We don't have credit cards as we pay for everything with debit/cash. The girl was ready to turn us away. we asked about leaving cash or taking if off of our debit. Right away my husband was asking for a refund and looking for a new hotel online. We stayed at the royal York 2 weeks prior and didn't have this problem. Eventually the girl at the desk went and spoke to a manager who allowed us to put it on our debit card. Cant complain about the room, it was decent. We decided to go down to the lobby bar for a drink. I ordered a Caesar. The drink was supposed to come with olives and spicy beans. I had a translucent drink brought with only the olives. When I asked where the beans were I was told that I didn't ask for that Caesar! There was only one on the drink menu. He brought me a glass full of beans and then without asking proceeded to pour another shot of vodka into my drink?????? Needless to say, it couldn't be drank. It was disgusting. For supposedly being a classy hotel, NO WAY. We ended up going back to the Royal York for drinks and fun. I will never recommend this place to anyone and will never return
