Everything started off well. We received a warm greeting and complimentary drink when we arrived. We settled into our suite which was beautiful, spacious and clean, then went out to explore Puerto Ayora. It wasn't until we returned in the evening that things went sour. We were told we needed to handle payment for the room, and that I had only booked a room for 2 people and had to pay extra for the 3rd person. This was absolutely false and I showed her my booking, confirming that I had in fact booked a room for 3 people. I was informed this was a problem with Expedia and that I must pay the extra fee. Had I known it was more than the price advertised, I would have never booked there in the first place. After much negotiation (which was difficult given the host spoke no English), she told me I could either pay the price I had booked for with no breakfast or pay extra to get the breakfast that was supposed to be included! I ended up just paying extra because I was tired of the argument. On top of that, she charged an extra 6% on the full amount because I wanted to pay by credit card - the same one I had used for the reservation! Furthermore, we ran the hot water for 15 minutes and no hot water came (she said to keep running it). Also, the breaker to the A/C unit in the room had been cut. When we complained, we were told A/C is expensive and to open the windows instead, but the street was very noisy. I finally negotiated running it for 2 hours in order to cool the room down.
