4/10 Fair
2 January 2025
A relic from a by-gone era that needs updating/TLC
We pulled up and the awning was damaged and looks like it had been that way for a while - didn't bode well (they did replace it next day). Hotel seemed old school, thought it would be a fun place to stay right on the beach. It wasn't old school, just old. I think my mom (probably more like grandma for many of you) had the furniture back in the 70s and the carpeting and accent wall looked straight out of the 80s, which appears to be the last time they did anything with the tub (the coating in the bottom of the tub was scratched and worn thru to the base). No noise abatement that I could tell of and shared a wall with an exit door so there was a lot of slamming and loud voices (fortunately, we have Bluetooth sleep masks which absorbed some of the sound). Hallways were skinny and pretty severe (no decorations and brutal lighting, seemed like my old military barracks). We only stayed one night, so maybe we got the crappiest room, I dont know. The front desk staff were pleasant and we did leave our luggage with them when we went to the beach next day before getting on the plane (but this is a service I would expect from any hotel). Overall, we had a bed for the night and it wasn't uncomfortable - so it met our needs. But it would have been fun to have something...if not modern...at least better kept.
