Matehuala
Rooms are spartan Good enough for a mid way rest stop. Take your shower in the PM as hot water is from solar. Safe, as rooms and vehicles are inside the compound.Really good Mexican breakfast available to purchase upon arrival.

Nothing to like. Rooms smelled, sheets paper thin. Just one towel in bathroom, dirty floors in bath. I am fully bilingual so not a understanding: I booked a room with two bedrooms, 2 bath. Was checked into one room with 2 beds and one bath. When I complained I was moved to proper accommodations after I was told the room we were checked into was all they had. This is half-star accommodations and should be rated as such.

The staff was very pleasant. Check in was simple. BUT we could not stay in the room. Once we pulled back the sheets and sat in the bed we started itching terribly! We could not sleep in those conditions. Also my toddler walked around without shoes and socks and the bottoms of his feet were black with dirt within 10minutes. It was very disturbing. When we let the staff know they were polite and seemed concerned and worked with us as we contacted Expedia for a refund. The refund process took about 45 minutes (on the phone with Expedia). I do not recommend this hotel at all.

The property is near the town hall. It is in the main road so it is an excellent location. The building is all so every morning we had issues with the hot Water. Some day we waited for hours to take a hot shower. An the sheets and towels are grey colour instead of white

It was just flat out low low low end hotel. There was one ratty Towel in the bathroom no wash clause no hand towels. The bedspread was dirty looked like there was nasty all over it. I will not stay at this hotel again.

An okay place to stay for the night.
We stay in Matehuela when we travel to and from Ajijic to the US. The hotel we usually stay at was full and we found Hotel Casa Real. It was easy to find and we checked in around 3 PM and it was empty. It completely filled up around midnight. It was clean, the beds were fine, past that there were few if any amenities. It is an old building and rundown but it was okay to stay for the night and leave early the next morning. For a place to spend the night, it was okay. I got coffee, para llevar, the next morning at the cafe. Walmart was directly across the street. As many have commented before it is noisy.

The property is in very poor condition. The water barely came out of the faucet. The bed was totally uncomfortable as well as the pillow, like it was filled with lumps. The paint was chipping off the walls and doors. We checked in at 10pm and were told we could get something to eat at their restaurant. But we were turned away.

Never Again
We stayed here for a few hours in the night on our way back to Mexico City, and it was the worst place I've been in, especially for the price. It was terribly noisy, particularly 6:30AM and onwards, and there was nothing but thin curtains to block the ridiculously bright lights right outside. The mattresses (they gave us a room that was two rooms) were saggy, a headboard falling off the wall, a red splatter on the wall, no toilet seat on one of the toilets, the windows were seized, mildew and hair in the shower, and a carpet in such a condition that it made us reconsider taking our shoes off. For the price we paid, I expected much, much better.

Hotel not there!!!
It was dark and I used the map on your web site which connected to Google Maps. This directed me down deeply pot holed un paved streets to a private home. I am a single female and I was driving around a seedy neighborhood at night by myself and still never found the hotel. I spent the night in another hotel. I want my money back, please.

10/10 Exceptional

Perfect location for a trip to the border and back
The amenities are basic but the room had a two beds and a separated sitting area. Wifi works and it has a restaurant on site and number of restaurants within easy walking distance (<1 mile). Great place to stay as it is half-way between Laredo and Laguna de Chapala.

Not for couples....IMHO
This place is relatively inexpensive and easily accessible from the highway. The staff are friendly also. I stayed here by myself, and it was just OK. I upgraded for a few $ more, and wonder what the single room would have been like. The one toilet didn't work, the carpet was torn badly in the middle of the room, and the separation between the formerly single rooms was uneven and a tripping hazard. The pavement outside was broken up, but the place seemed secure. I am lucky that I wasn't with my wife, or I would have been in the doghouse for sure! Wifi was spotty.

GOOD spot to REST.
No coffee in the rooms, at 7 a.m, there was hot water to make instant. Decent Wi Fi, and trucks go up and down the highway in front of the hotel, but MOST rooms don´ hear this. They do offer AC and HEAT, as climate conditions are extreme on the desert. Thankful for their service to mankind that is coming and going to Mexico City from San Antonio, Texas
