Overnight theatre stay.
Very clean throughout the bedroom, bathroom and hotel. Lovely big dining room with a nice outlook if seated by the windows. Breakfast varied although the hot buffet wasn't that hot. Helpful friendly staff. Bus route into town only a 3 or 4 minutes walk to the bus stop, bus 23 or 27 more regular, about every 15 minutes into the City Centre. A few restaurants, cafes only a short walk away on the main road opposite the road entrance to the hotel.

Average stay
Overall, we were not particulary impressed with the quality of the hotel. Although the staff were very helpful. The room we were initially given was cold when we entered with only a panel heater which we put on straight away. The room itself was small and looked very tired in terms of decor and cleanliness. There was a cold draught and the room was not warming up so I went and asked to move rooms. Staff were very accommodating and gave us another room with no quibble. However, the panel heater in this room wasn't working at all and the windows were open wide at almost 10pm. I went back to reception to report the non working radiator and they checked it and moved us again. This time the room was fine and in fact a slightly upgraded room. However, we could clearly hear music and noise from the bar or function room until about 11.30. Overall, the hotel didn't have a quality feel. The corridors had a very functional look to them and no nice features. It all felt a bit tired looking. It is convenient for visiting our son but based on our experience we are unlikely to stay again.

Business Conference Midweek Stay
Ok it's quite a big hotel. If you get a room in the 3's make sure you leave a GPS transmitter you may never find your room. The main bar/restaurant has a laid back casual atmosphere that makes you want to hang about there/ It has great facilities - Mini Cinema, Dartboard, Lots of sockets with USB points, The food is not too fussy and not too basic lots of option. A good choice of beers/cider/wine etc too. Closing at 11pm is a little early for a big hotel. Midnight would be better. The hotel has a Starbucks, conference area with yet another bar and is literally like a village outside huge with lots of parking space. The Jewel of the crown is a huge leisure centre build underground. Fantastic Pool. Sauna, Steam room, Hot Tub, All really clean and well kept. Shame I couldn't visit more than once spent far too much time looking for my room. It really is the most complicated room system I have ever seen in my life. The room itself pretty much on the same par as the room of requirement in Harry Potter. It appeared at different places at different times I am sure. Did I mention that the maze that I had to endure to get to and from reception was so authentic I was almost killed by a Minotaur at one point. It's ok though Percy Jackson was coming though and made short work of him. The room itself wasn't top level or anything but it wasn't basic either. It was comfortable with it's own personality about it. Good Showering Facilities with good pressure. Huge TV and Dyson fan.
