Very good 8.0
The hotel itself is not beside the lake but down the road further back and slightly elevated so you could still see views of the lake.!!Our room looked at the pool not the lake but that was ok. Service at reception very friendly however restaurant staff not so much. I wanted an a la carte breakfast not the buffet like everyone else. The maître d said to take a seat anywhere rather than showing me to my table and presenting me with a menu. I literally had to wave somebody down to ask for a breakfast menu! I just felt like I got forgotten about. I had to get up and ask if I could have a coffee! I wanted a long black but I got filtered coffee. My Eggs Benedict were slightly cold and I didn’t get offered any more coffee. The waitress walked past me and offered the people at the table beside me but she totally walked past me. I shouldn’t have to raise my hand when she is offering it to everyone else. I was the only Maori in the restaurant so maybe that’s what it was. Discrimination! Also when I went to sign my bill the maître d was completely involved in his terminal while the waitress beside him ignored me as she was talking to another customer about her day ahead which I really didn’t care to hear about as I just wanted to sign my bill and leave. I stood there for what seemed like an eternity until I was given the check which I vigorously scribbled my signature right over the tip column.! No thanks no bloody tip for you. Here’s my tip..better customer service!

Good 6.0
Customer Service needs improving
From arrival - we had a young asian lady serve us. Facial expression looked very unhappy, we got there at 2.30pm, check in time 3pm. Asked if hotel room is ready by any chance. She said, computer says ready but she doubts it as sometimes they are not ready. Asked us to go out of hotel and come back. She left the conversation at that. Had to push her to ring the housekeeping to check, which at the end she did and confirmed room was ready. Never even offered to take our bags, even when ready to check in I had to ask for our bags to be taken to our room. At this stage it felt like checking in to a motel. Got to room, it had no Guest Services book. Called your front desk, they apologised and said they would get it to use right away, 2 hours passed nothing, so I called front desk again, just kept ringing. I rang again later and finally they delivered the guest book. All we wanted to know was what amenities are available, prices of food and things to do! The pools were a let down, the Spa was so strong of chlorine, only two of the water pressure turbines were working. Main swimming pool was not warm it was cold. Your restaurant and the service there was great! That is our highlight. Friendly staff and good food. We have stayed in some Hiltons, had a good experience at Queenstown Hilton. Queensland Hilton was average and now we have a memory of our anniversary being spent in Hilton Taupo which the service was not what we expected. Langham and Skycity Grand are still leading NZ.

Fair 4.0
3 star hotel
The hotel room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable..however in the bathroom was just 1 little shampoo and condition for to share..not enough..and just 1 towel each, but that's all. The hotel is rated 5 star. There was no where to park for the check in..had to park way down the hill and walk up in the freezing cold carrying our bags. We had booked and paid for the room and buffet breakfast but found when we went for breakfast and gave our room number..were told we were not on the breakfast list, had to wait while they checked up making phone calls..embarrassing and so unorganised for a 5 star hotel. The restaurant was terrible..way overpriced and over rated. We went for dinner and chips and a hamburger..$62. and had to sit at a wobbly table. Would be better off going to a local fish and chip shop much cheaper and better. The buffet breakfast the next morning was terrible..cold hash browns and baked beans were terrible. There was no service for a coffee ..had to go ask the waiter and then no service for any refills. The coffee was not self help but waiters bring it but just didn't seem interested in doing that. The swimming pool was open to use in the evening but not much lighting..very dark and the water too cold. So overall the room itself I would rate a 4star but the restaurant a 2 star. So the hotel itself does not deserve a 5 star rating. Would not go there again.

Very good 8.0
Was concerned to see that the account had two items ordered from Room Service Menu that we incorrect based on the charges on the Room Menu - one rounded up .50c - food - additional $7.00- Bottle of Wine When queried on Checkout Dominic dealt with this graciously and it was deducted. We had a beautiful room 014 however the lounge chairs and sofa need with rips in the faux leather and torn layers need to be addressed for a premier room.

I liked the quick response of staff. I hired an apartment for the kitchen facilities but there were not enough dishes i needed a fruit bowl a platter the pots were mismatched. I didnt ask staff for more dishes thinking they shuld have ben there already We had young children that cant be fed in restaurants and needed to have meals prepared because of allergies otherwise everything else was excellent.
