2/10 Poor

Noisy, dated and deceptive.
Rooms are small and dated. You can hear clear conversations of the guests in the next room. There is no air conditioning, no ventilation in bathroom. The shower is from the 1960s. Mattresses are also dated and can feel the springs. They over sell car parking so you have to end up parking on the footpath and still pay. We stayed on a Friday night and in the elevator was advertised as $10 gin day from 4pm. They did not honor this after 6pm. This is misleading advertising. I would not stay here again and will also be adding to our corporate do not stay list.

Worth the price
I booked the cheapest room and it was small but everything inside felt luxurious. The linens were clean and pristine. The elevator/lift had extra security feature of taping room key to access floors. The food and coffee were even good. I loved the view of the city from my room. Outstanding.

6/10 Good

Ok for short stop over.
We just used this for a single night stop before catching the ferry to South Island. I wouldn’t want to stay more than 1 night, as room was too warm and couldn’t be cooled without lots of noise. Pillows were too soft for me and couldn’t see any choice for firmer ones.

6/10 Good

Small but adequate room. The restaurant really let this place down. Food was awful - tasteless and expensive for what it was. The main course took ages to come and the veges while nicely presented were undercooked and the lamb unseasoned. Weirdly, we couldn't pay for it that night as no staff could take the money, however at 0530 am the staff could. It was convenient to where we were going.

I found the staff welcoming and the room was all that I needed. Loved the peek of the Harbour from my window. Really like that you could open a window and get fresh air. The best thing was their Etaon Mess dessert.

We were catching the ferry to Southland early the next day so the Atura was very handy, only a few minutes drive to the port. The room was clean and comfortable, so exactly what we required.
