Maybe I should have given this review 5 stars
We went to SF for major surgery. We had the room for 3 nights. We arrived Thursday night. The Keurig did not work, and we saw what the problem was. Maintenance came and helped to move chest with tv & Keurig. The process took about an hour. Surgery was on Friday. I was able to sleep in the room at UCSF,with my husband. I put do not disturb on the door, and nothing had been disturbed. The pool looked fantastic, and it was warm. I was not there to go for a dip! On our first morning I did have a snack in the lobby for breakfast. My husband could not eat or drink anything. I thought the breakfast was quite fun, and the fresh fruit was a nice touch. The security was tight, and I say 5 star. They brought up a small refrigerator for me. We came back on Saturday, and caught our flight home to Maui at 6:30 AM. Our room was 449 on the street side. A bit unsettling, with sirens and life in this part of The City. It was simple, affordable, and they took care of us. Aloha

Wonderful staff!
wonderful staff, from security to reception personnel. Other than that, I did not like anything else about my stay at this hotel. I won't repeat even if I am desperate and this hotel is my only option.

Our stay was good, we loved the pool. The weather was awful 95 degrees. We asked for a stand fan which they delivered to our room. So we can't blame the uncomfortableness on the Hotel itself. The front desk was just as miserable.

terrible hotel
no AC and it was 100 degrees. the room smelled like mildew and the door to the bathroom wouldn’t really open. no water at front desk. manager was laying on the lobby sofa when we left. there was a nasty carpet throughout the building. the photos are definitely not comparable to the actual hotel. they must have been photoshopped. also the ice machines were broken during a heatwave and there was construction on the 4th floor that was so loud.

Soma House is a nice little hotel, and a very pleasant stay. The pool was pleasantly warm, and the bed was comfy. The rooms were clean, although some of the common areas were in need of an update. My one critique - I could not get hotter than lukewarm water for the whole stay. I wish I could have had a nice shower!

Very relating stay. The room was very spacious and clean. The only thing it needs is an AC unit instead of ceiling fan and a window to open. Had to check out of one hotel and check into another. If you’re looking for somewhere quick and easy without any finesse or jazz, then stay here. While the rooms have been updated a bit, and the sink area of the bathrooms have been, the tub/shower/toilet area of the bathroom has not and it definitely gives off strong Motel vibes. Your room WONT have air conditioning in it - but the ceiling fan is pretty darn powerful, and if you prop open your door for 30mins after getting in, it cools off decently. Definitely cool enough to sleep. The coffee, while it being a Keurig, will be decaf - read the small print on the pod - and housekeeping doesn’t have any regular caffeine pods. The pool is heated, but not regularly cleaned - so it had a gazillion floating dead bugs in it (mosquitos?) and wasn’t appealing to get into the pool. The neighborhood is pretty dicey, but folks stick to themselves and don’t bother you - just look out not to step in stuff while you’re walking around. All in all, I wouldn’t stay here again, but if you make the mistake of booking here without reading reviews first, it’s not terrible - but a couple blocks away are some much nicer options.

They can no longer charge absurd fees by surprise, but the raised their parking to $60. the parking lot was mostly empty because of this. and you're paying for valet parking, but there's not valet after 11pm. useless.
