The Mirage is a world-class destination and has been one of the most iconic landmarks on the Las Vegas Strip for decades. Designed by renowned casino developer Steve Wynn in 1989, the Polynesian-themed hotel is one of Sin City's original megaresorts. As you enter the front doors, you'll feel like you're in a tranquil tropical oasis. Exotic greenery and island scenery abound, and a coconut-mango scent permeates the entire property. The staff members even wear Hawaiian shirts with leis.
The property is centrally located on the Strip, so guests are within easy reach to many of Vegas’ top attractions. Furthermore, The Mirage is one of the more family-friendly resorts in town. You'll find a variety of entertainment options suitable for all ages. From exotic animals and outdoor pools to live comedy shows and sports bars, everyone can have fun here. So, if you're planning a trip to Las Vegas, here's what you can expect when you visit or stay at The Mirage Hotel & Casino.

What are the highlights and features of The Mirage?
Just outside The Mirage is a giant volcano with continually cascading waterfalls. Every night, on the hour between 8 and 11 pm, the artificial volcano explodes. Smoke, fireballs, and 100-foot gas-powered eruptions complete the free show. Accompanied by the soundtrack of the legendary rock band Grateful Dead, it's a fantastic experience. To watch the fire show from above, ask for a room with a view of the volcano.
With a massive outdoor pool full of waterfall features, The Mirage Pool is one of the resort’s main draws. There's also an adults-only, top-optional poolside lounge called Bare. Aim to be poolside early in the morning to call dibs on the complimentary lounge chairs. At the deluxe spa and health club, unwind with a relaxing hot stone massage, mud mask, or body wrap.
Entertainment and dining at The Mirage
The casino is a popular attraction and features typical slots and table games, a 25-table poker room with 4 different games, and a large sportsbook with 150 individual viewing screens. Big spenders can visit the high-limit lounge.
Fans of Boyz II Men can listen to the smooth sounds of one of the biggest R&B groups of all time. And if laughing your head off is what you crave, The Mirage frequently hosts some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy. Kids and adults alike will have a ball at the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. There, you can get up-close to the dolphins and the famous white lions and tigers. But the highlight of The Mirage is certainly the resident Cirque du Soleil's “Love”. The jaw-dropping musical and acrobatic show is set to the iconic music of The Beatles and is a must-see.
There are over a dozen culinary experiences at The Mirage to suit every dietary preference, budget, and schedule. Outlets range from casual to fancy and include modern American, East Coast-style deli, Japanese, Italian, and Mexican. Cafes, cocktail bars, pubs, and pizza joints complete the incredible collection of restaurants.
What’s good to know about The Mirage?
The resort is at the north end of the famous Strip and a 10-minute drive from McCarran International Airport (LAS). To move between hotels along the Strip, hop on the Las Vegas Monorail which is within walking distance to The Mirage. There's also a free streetcar that takes guests between The Mirage and Treasure Island.
Another hotel worth visiting is the Venetian Resort, just opposite The Mirage. The interior of the Italian-themed resort is cleverly designed with a blue sky-painted ceiling to make it feel like you're outside. There is even an actual piazza with bridges stretching over a canal. Every hour, starting from 10 am, elaborately costumed street buskers perform in the “Town Square”. Complete the dreamy experience with a ride down the Grand Canal in an authentic Venetian gondola – a singing gondolier included.
