Basic but well worth the money
The Carlton is in the process of being renovated. The alternative accommodation across the road was an excellent replacement. Very well presented, clean funky and functional more than adequate for a brief visit. Right in the heart of Jesmond,

Not good!!
Located in a great area, however, the room was noisy and next to the restaurant ventilation system which make the room extremely smelly.

Very satisfied
This is a budget hotel and, as such was very impressive. The staff were pleasant and friendly and the room clean, warm and comfortable. Situated in a lively area, which we liked, we were not disturbed in any way. We would definitely stay again.

Noisy - don’t come to rest!!
This hotel is really noisy From the bar below until 11pm and then it all turns off. The noise kicked off again about 1am until 3am with disorderly guests running around the corridors. Had I managed to get some sleep it would have been good value for money as clean and comfortable and perfectly placed central to all Jesmonds amenities and close to transport links .

Recently refurbished in the heart of studentland
Room looked nothing like the photograph but the hotel looks like it has been recently refurbished. The hotel is in th heart of student land and there is a busy bar downstairs. Perhaps if you had a room at the front of the hotel then the noise would be an issue, but our room was at the back so it was quiet. Breakfast was disappointing, but for 40 quid a night we couldn't really complain.

Staff were great, very helpful if you need anything centrally located with shops restaurants and bars within walking distance. We managed to park 2 cars on the hotel car park but we left them there and used taxis or buses if we wanted to go into town.
All 3 rooms were great. Really good sizes.
Would stay again.

Room was nice inside
The room we received faced the back alley so not a pleasant few. We tried to have the window open but to noisy.
The women working the front desk was very nice and helpful! Really the only positive part of the stay.
Parking lot was full and seemed like chaos. Had to park on the street till 8am. Not a huge deal.
Bar downstairs was noisy, sounded like a good time if we were there to drink. The bar closed at 11pm. Bit loud till midnight.
Breakfast was not good. Orange juice tasted funny. Not much left to eat but toast. Croissants and yogurt. My father and I both got ill about two hours after breakfast. Think it was the OJ. We weren’t able to eat for 2.5 days after that and threw up a lot. Put a damper on the rest of our trip.
Location. Room were fine. For one night would maybe stay again if no other options but would not touch the food/drinks.

Best little hotel in Jesmond
Cannot fault this gem of a hotel.....Staff are so friendly and helpful. When we walked into our room, we were shocked by how big it was...so much floorspace. Beds were extremely comfortable and the room was decorated beautifully. Had a fridge in our room which we found very useful as I use oat milk, so had somewhere to store it instead of having to flit to/from reception whenever I want to have a cuppa. Lovely touch having free bottles of water, cartons of orange juice and a kit kat for us all !!
Located in a really good area, shops and places to eat within easy walking distance. Very short walk to the metro station too which is a real bonus.
We will be staying here every time we visit the area.
Really looking forward to it too
