Good spot for meeting travellers but not sleeping
I stayed at Nomads Melbourne for just 1 night, and it was my first time there. The check-in process was the most disappointing bit out of my overall experience. You need to download TiPi app to check in. I was told that there should be an email sent to me about it but I did not get any email about downloading Tipi as I booked on Expedia. Although they said it's more convienent and just like check in flight. But really how secure is tipi? I'm not sure if it's ok to share your license and passport on an app that you've never heard before and it might share your private information to third party. Also what if your phone runs out of battery? What if you have no internet? What if you don't even have a phone? A better decent accommodation doesn't have that kind of process. It took me 15 mins to complete the check in process. Secondly, just like everybody else has said here, the rooms are so thin-walled. Sometimes people closing the door so loudly that almost gave me heart attack while I was trying to sleep. The toilet/bathrooms have no proper bin for sanitary products. I thought it was quite unhygenic seeing pads and tampons in normal bin without lids. Finally, the staff that I met at reception were nice but I don't know why they wouldn't just give people the free WiFi password at check-in. I saw a lot of people going to the counter asking for WiFi password, so not very efficient.

Our stay was OK, but kinda disappointing. We had extensive trouble with our room access. The access number we were given didn’t work, the keyless entry via the Tipi app didn’t work, and the key cards we were given kept resetting themselves and failed to work a couple of times a day. Luckily the staff were really helpful with this but it was a pain in the ass. The electricity sockets in our room wouldn’t take the lamp plugs all the way in so they were loose, right next to our beds, which didn’t feel safe. There was also coleslaw and margarine left in our fridge, and someone’s random sock in the room, so it really didn’t feel like it had been cleaned properly. There were strange and loud noises in our room quite regularly, what sounded like loud pipes, which were quite disturbing as they would sound late at night and early in the morning. We didn’t get an orientation of the hostel on arrival so had to figure out where the kitchen was, where the toilets were, and what facilities there were on our own - which in itself was not difficult, but it was slack of the staff not to have that brief but useful conversation. An upside of the property is the location was good; easy stroll into the heart of the CBD. I really don’t like giving bad reviews, but considering we got the “king room”, it wasn’t worth what we paid. And considering Nomads is a well known hostel chain and this was my first experience staying with them, i wasn’t very impressed.... sad, but true.

Stay over to go to the gran prix
I suppose extremely basic. The carpeting needs too changed. Entry into the shower is very small. Never tried the breakfast area as it is way to noisy. The desk staff are not the mos friendly and don't seem to be helpful at all. Can't offer much advice if else to do in he city. The entrance to the establish ent is disgustingnearky in the morning as people are allowed to vomit on the steps and not much effort was made tio clean this up. For pension holiday makers I will not advise this establishment. The bed was nice and big which was a plus point. Would have liked to have the facilities to make our own teas and coffee but this was not available. Only had one bedside lamp. Toweling for the 2nd day was not cleaned

Better than what I expected for a Nomads. But still disappointing as far pricey hostels go. (Seriously why does nomads charge so much for mediocre facilities). The room was alright, if not for incredibly frustrating roommates. Some of whom were not booked in and had snuck into the room to have sex, because the door was never shut. The showers are gross. Yeah I saw them being cleaned. Barely. Shouldn’t have to go to reception about it every day to say that though.. the kitchen was TINY and there was barely any pots/pans or anything else you might need. Just an abundance of plates.. also the dining area is not in an easy to find location unless you feel like sitting outside in an alley... Pretty poor for a hostel I gotta be honest..

Very close to Victoria markets
Stayed here overnight as it was close to a concert we recently attended and I was definitely far from impressed. The way up to our room was up a flight of stairs (no lift!) and we had to make many trips as we had alot of bags and items to carry. The hostel has only 4 parking spots which were all taken so we had to pay for separate parking. The carpet from the stairs leading up to our room had obviously not been vaccuumed in a while, let alone cleaned. Our room had crumbs all over the place, the bedside tables and table tops hadnt been wiped and the toilet had towels on the floor. The only positive I have is how comfortable the bed was.
